Huck and Hugh

Huck and Hugh

Before Huck, there was Hugh. Hugh is Sally's first dog. He is from my first Airedale litter and is a brother to Hazel. Sally did lots of research before deciding on an Airedale terrier and the research paid off. Hugh turned out to be the perfect first dog. He has loads of character but is calm and accepting, with a great of love for life and all things living. On Sally's first visit home to show off her boy, Sally's mom made it clear she wasn't a dog person and Hugh wasn't coming in her house. Undetered, Sally took him and after that first visit, he was more welcome than she was! Her mom said, "Don't you dare come visit without that dog!"

Starting first with a summer picture, then Christmas photos, Hugh quickly became adept at posing. These pictures were posted at the school where Sally works and Hugh became the unofficial school mascot. Some kids at the school thought he wasn't a real dog and would have their parents drive by Sally's house just for a glimpse of Hugh!

This is Hugh's first photo shoot, on the beach.

Here he has progressed to more complicated themes, posing as the Red Baron at Christmas, and Chichita Banana for Mardi Gras. Eventually Sally decided, one Airedale wasn't enough and into Hugh's life came baby Huck.

As a infant, Huck was smart, sweet and beautiful. I assured Sally of his gentlemanly qualities. Sally took him home and immediately, Huck shed his calm demeanor and the mischief began. Hugh would follow Huck, with a look of "I don't think Mom's going to like that" or "Are you sure that's a good idea?"

Eventually, Sally has gotten the headstrong little beast to slow down enough to carry on with the family photo tradition. According to Sally, that's the only time the two of them will hold still. Best friends, forever!
