Carp Plate

Carp Carp

The brilliantly colored carp of Japan have been bred for centuries for size and beauty. Most can be tamed to eat out of your hand. On this plate, fish patient circle on this plate, waiting for a what you will offer them. Painted with underglaze paints, this porcelain plate is 10 1/4" wide and 1 1/4 " high. This pot was sold in December for $410.00.

Within this small porcelain dish, a spider spins a web, then waits for whatever you place in it. Out-of-focus behind the web, are autumn leaves. The outside of this shallow bowl is black. This pot is 6 1/2 " wide and 1 1/2" high. This pot was sold in November for $102.50.

A sweet brown bunny hides behind geraniums and petunias in the garden, no doubt looking for a snack. There is one red butterfly among the yellow petunias on the border. This porcelain container is 2 1/4" high and 4" wide. This lidded pot was sold in October for $233.50.

Cow Pitcher

What could be a better way to start the day than using a pitcher decorated with a small herd of cows encouraging you to drink your milk? The pot has a satin glaze surface painted with underglaze paints. The interior is a red-brown glaze that matches the color of the cows. This stoneware pot is 6 1/4" high and 4 3/4" wide and holds 1 quart. This pitcher was sold in September for $325.00.

Merry-Go-Round Bowl

Merry-Go-Round Merry-Go-Round

Six animals: a pig, a chicken, a tiger, a horse, a frog and a rabbit make for a merry ride on this merry-go-round bowl. This pot has an antique, faded quality with satin matte glazes and soft colors. The inside is decorated with ornamentation similar to what you'd find on top of a merry-go-round. This bowl is made of stoneware and is 7 1/4" wide and 2 1/2" high. This vase was sold in August for $182.50.

These three tigers would make a bold statement in any room, whether filled with flowers or not. This pot was thrown in a black stoneware. When the pot was partly dried (leather hard), a porcelain slip was applied forming the tiger shapes. After the first firing, the porcelain was glazed in a semi-matte white and painted with underglaze paints. The black clay was left unglazed so the tigers are raised slightly above the surface. This pot is 7" high and 4 3/4" wide. This vase was sold in July for $450.00.

They're all here - the cat and the fiddle, the laughing little dog, the cow jumping over the moon, and look! there goes the dish running away with the spoon. This porcelain salt shaker is decorated with underglaze paints covered a shiny transparent glaze. This shaker is 3 3/4" high and 3 1/2" wide. This shaker was sold in June for $280.00.

It's a puffin parade! Together the flock forms an almost geometric design. This scalloped edge vase is made of black stoneware. Porcelain slip was applied when the pot was leather hard to make the puffin feathers really white. There are unglazed areas of plain black clay, raising the puffins very slightly above the surface. This vase is 6 1/4" high and 4 3/4" wide. This pot was sold in May for $229.83.

These fish look pretty pleased with themselves as they circle round this bowl. Sporting all the colors in a paint box, no two fish are alike. This bowl, made of an off-white stoneware, is the color of rich cream inside and outside, a watery gray blue. This bowl is 5 1/4 " wide and 2 1/4" high. This pot was sold in April for $229.50.

Three young lions lie in a golden haze on a grassy plain, quietly alert for the next interesting adventure to come their way. The container bottom is the same honey color as the grasses. This pot is made of porcelain and is 5 1/4 " wide and 3" high. This container was sold in March for $355.00.

Two swan couples nurture their youngsters, as they float in a pond of gentle blue green waves. This peaceful scene has been painted on procelain and glazed with a shiny transparent glaze. This delicate pot is 3 1/2" wide and 4 1/4" high. This bowl was sold in February for $310.00.

Three Cats on a Cushion

Three cats cozily curl around each other on a flowered cushion inside this bowl. The exterior is painted with the cushion design as well. The bowl is made of a heavily speckled stoneware with a cream satin glaze and painted with underglazes. This large shallow bowl is 11" wide and 2 1/4" high. This bowl was sold in January for $380.00.
